Biography:
Stephenie Hansen-Del Rio (she/her) is a licensed mental health counselor that specializes in working with clients with disordered eating, chronic dieting, and eating disorders accompanying anxiety, depression and grief/loss. She graduated from Northwest University in 2011 with her Masters in Counseling Psychology and is currently working toward certification in Body Trust ™. She works with clients suffering from the human condition and believes that all coping mechanisms have wisdom developed from a place of love and a desire to protect the self. Stephenie combines Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered, Internal Family Systems, and Mindfulness in her practice and believes that healing comes from getting to know the parts of ourselves and learning to appreciate and have compassion for all parts that have developed over the years. Stephenie is happiest when she sees people becoming liberated from oppressive systems and gets to bear witness to their homecoming, resettling into their bodies, and building resiliency to anything that gets in the way of maintaining that.
Stephenie grew up in a small town in rural Texas. She has lived in many places since and continues to have an adventurous spirit. She has traveled to many countries and experienced many things in her life and this allows her to truly “get” a lot of her client’s experiences. Stephenie is a mother of an adult daughter in which she has a deep, respectful, loving and meaningful friendship with. She is an additional parent to her husband’s children and enjoys the playful spirit that children bring to her life. Stephenie is generous, loving, open, and vulnerable and feels most connected to life through spending time with her friends and family, her loving kindness meditation practice, and long walks in nature with her beautiful 4 legged companion, Bailey.
